Commune Cafe - A Preview
In the Photo: The prominent graphic line drawing which covers Commune's entire back wall was designed by Evoke Interior Design.
If Commune, a bright new addition to the mid-town Vancouver restaurant scene, is not already open for business, it certainly will be soon.
Last Friday when we popped into the light and airy bistro with its hip, somewhat Scandinavian vibe, the staff and management were in a hustle of last minute preparations and menu testing. The interior dining room was not yet camera ready but we did grab a few detail photos that should give you some idea of what to expect.
The casual cafe aims to be open all day, every day to offer an eclectic menu of made-to-order baked goods, sandwiches, pizzas, soups and hot dishes -- all given an interesting twist by Chef Tina Fineza. Mmmm .... did somebody say Nutella brioche?
Beer and wine will be available as well. (We spotted Propeller ales and Joie rose in the coolers.)
Find them at 1002 Seymour (across the street from the Penthouse Nightclub.) Or look them up on Facebook.
More information is provided under the photos.
Chef Tina Fineza's menu includes a number of panini and hoagie style sandwiches including one she calls Thanksgiving-in-a-bun (braised turkey leg, stuffing and bacon on cranberry walnut millet bread). The bread and other baked goods will be supplied by Mix Bakery. All sandwiches will be offered at the same price throughout the day.
