South Okanagan Fall Road Trip Day One

Join us on a five day road trip through the beautiful south Okanagan Valley.

DAY ONE: September 29, 2010: First stop, Pentage Winery near Penticton for an autumn dinner in the Winery's cave prepared by Joy Road Catering.

The Venue:

Pentage Winery is a boutique winery nestled on 23 acres on Lakeside Road, overlooking Skaha Lake and with a stunning view of the valley. The winery is owned and operated by Paul Gardner and Julie Rennie and has 6.5 acres of vineyard. Beyond its wines, the winery's most distinctive feature is a 4,000 square foot wine cellar burrowed into the hillside between walls of natural rock.

The Cooks:

Using as much local, seasonal and artisanally produced products as possible, Joy Road Catering, owned by Dana Ewart and Cameron Smith, hosts wine paired dinners featuring "cuisine de terroir" Thursday and Sunday evenings throughout the summer season at God's Mountain Estate. Their al fresco venue is situated over a beautiful Riesling vineyard, with a panoramic view of Skaha Lake. Guests eat at a communal table with seating for 30. Thursday night dinners feature a different local winemaker each week. You will also find Joy Road and their delicious organic baking with local seasonal fruit at the Naramata and Penticton Farmer's Markets.

Tonight Joy Road Catering and Pentage Winery hosted a candlelit dinner held with in the romantic setting of Pentage's cave cellar. See details in the photos below. Editor's note: Photos were taken in candlelight and therefore a little fuzzy. They really don't do the food justice.
