SPRING: It's Macaron Day in Vancouver!

CORRECTION: As previously listed, Thomas Haas Chocoltes and Terra Breads, will NOT be participating in the Jour du Macaron charity initiative, and thus have been removed from this list and the map. Apologies for any inconvenience.


Traditionally in France, March 20th is “le Jour du Macaron” (Macaron Day). Initiated by famous pastry chef Pierre Hermé, it is now celebrated in cities around the world.

This is the first year that Vancouver will be participating in the international event, and several local pastry shops will be donating a portion of sales from their macarons, featuring specific flavours just for the day ... or even giving the treats away for free.

VANCOUVER'S PARTICIPATING CAFES


FRENCH MADE BAKING

The Deal: French Made Baking will be giving away one free macaron per customer.
The Charity: A donation box will be set up for the B.C. Children’s Hospital (with a suggested donation of $2 per macaron.)

The Deal: 25% off the cost of all macarons..
The Charity: ...With 25 cents from each sale going to BC Ride (The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer).

The Deal: Receive a free gift with the purchase of 12 macarons ($22).
The Charity: Soirette will be donating to the Make a Wish Foundation.

The Charity: ...and ten percent of the sale will go to Growing Chefs! Chefs for Children's Agriculture.
