New Releases from Kettle Valley

Bob Ferguson and Tim Watts, co-owners and co-winemakers at Kettle Valley Winery, have announced that their first fall wine releases are now available. (Tasting notes are listed below.)
Commenting on these releases Bob Ferguson said, "We are very pleased. We tasted them with members of the Vancouver Island trade in early October and the wines received stunning reviews. Regarding the 2012 harvest, he added, "After some unsettled weather early in the season, July, August and September turned in stellar growing conditions and at harvest we are seeing great numbers and rich flavors. We are looking forward to some excellent vintages coming out of 2012."

The grapes for this wine came from the Trovao Vineyard on the Naramata Bench and Great Northern Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. The grapes were hand-picked between October 19, 2011 and November 5, 2011, at approximately 22 brix. A portion of this wine was barrel-fermented in older French oak and was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. The balance was tank fermented and did not go through malolactic fermentation in order to preserve the crisp, fresh fruit flavours. Total production 179 cases of 750ml bottles. $26.
2009 Pinot Noir
This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir grown in the Thibault Vineyard in Summerland, the Elgert and Ganhao Vineyards in Okanagan Falls, the Lazy Dog Vineyard in Penticton and the Becker, Cole, Trovao, and Hayman Vineyards on the Naramata Bench. The grapes were hand picked between October 1, 2009 and October 20, 200, at approximately 25 brix. The wine was allowed to go through a full malolactic fermentation, and was barrel-fermented in French oak for 20 months before being bottled. Total production 827 cases of 750 ml bottles. $26.
2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
The grapes for this wine come from the Trovao and King Vineyards located on the Naramata Bench, as well as the Dhaliwal Vineyard in Oliver and the Ganhao Vineyard in Okanagan Falls. The grapes were hand picked between October 12, 2009 and October 18, 2009, at approximately 24.5 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months. Total production 232 cases of 750 ml bottles. $38.
The grapes for this wine come from the King, Beichman and Old Main Vineyards in Naramata. This wine is a blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier. The vineyards were farmed at two tons to the acre resulting in very concentrated flavours. The grapes were hand picked between October 10 and October 22, 2009, at approximately 26.3 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 22 months before being bottled. Total production 285 cases of 750 ml bottles. $38.
Barber 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Naramata Bench
The grapes for this single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon come from the Barber Vineyard in Naramata. The grapes were hand picked on October 24 and October 25, 2009 at approximately 27 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months before bottling . Total production 72 cases of 750 ml bottles. $38.
This port style wine, formerly called Starboard, is a fortified blend of Malbec and Petit Verdot grapes from our King Drive Vineyard on the Naramata Bench. The grapes were hand picked at approximately 23.4 brix. The wine was barrel-aged in French oak. $24.
