Give Them Sweetness and Light
Left: Honey from the bees. Right: A scene from the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Gardens.

It's a Christmas gift that can be enjoyed by anyone - any age, any gender, any cultural heritage -- a ticket to the magical Festival of Lights show at the VanDusen Gardens.  (Running from now until January 2nd.)

Every year the garden employees spend weeks untangling and stringing up the thousands of coloured lights that make up this favourite family spectacle. You don't have to worry about the weather because it even looks good when it's raining. (All that neon glow reflecting off the wet garden paths and plant leaves lends a certain surround-a-round dimension to the entire experience.) And if it starts to snow, well that's just perfect, and the Gardens won't even charge you extra for it.

While you are at the show you can also nip into the gift shop for other unique gift ideas, not to mention some exquisite wrapping papers. Why not remember the efforts of the Garden's hardest little workers?
