This week marked Dia de Muertos, Mexico's annual "Day of the Dead".
Part of the traditional celebrations involved leaving out edible gifts for family spirits expected to visit homes on the eve of the festivities - bottles of beer and a cigar for Grandfather, tins of Great Grandmother's favourite biscuits, even thimble-sized mugs of hot chocolate and plates of sweeties for any baby angels who might fly in for the occasion.
