Six-course Spot Prawn Menu at C

SPOTTING THE LOCAL BC SPOT PRAWN ON THE MENU WON'T BE HARD
(Directly from the press release)

Vancouver, BC . . . C Restaurant continues its support of sustainably harvested local seafood. Chef de Cuisine Quang Dang celebrates the local prawn fishery opening with an entire six-course menu comprised of the succulent BC gems for $98.00 (see menu below), local wine pairings are also available. This menu is only available during the Prawn season, which closes the end of June. For reservations or more information please call (604) 681-1164. www.crestaurant.com or www.waterfrontdining.ca.

Executive Chef Robert Clark broke yet another seafood supply-line as an intelligent and involved purchaser during the 1st Annual Spot Prawn Festival. Together the Chefs’ Society of BC, the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise Program and the False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf brought the largest, most sustainable and locally harvested prawns in the world to Vancouver’s community table. Shortly after arriving at the Granville Island Fishermen’s Wharf, Clark jumped aboard local fishermen and friend Steve Johansen’s Organic Oceans’ boat to officially launch the co-hosted event.

The goal this season is to off-load locally Johansen’s entire cage caught catch of BC’s largest prawns (average 25 cm in length). So, for the entire Spot Prawn opening he has committed to not only supplying C Restaurant and sister restaurants NU Restaurant & Lounge and Raincity Grill with their usual portion of the catch but, all lower mainland chefs, markets, and communities. Docking his boat at the Fishermen’s Wharf weekdays between 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Saturdays approximately at 2:30 p.m.) Johansen invites all to rub elbows with the likes of (C owner) Harry Kambolis and Clark to pick-up your bag of live gold. This initiative is close to shore for both because curtailing a local commodity from leaving our docks (90% of all caught sales head overseas) provides another avenue for living and eating within our region.

Clark comments, “The success of this event means BC buyers could have a permanent and sustainable local alternative to the farmed Southeast Asian Tiger Prawns currently flying onto most of our plates and market shelves.’ Therefore, C Restaurant also offers patrons during the six to eight week season’s opening to add Spot Prawns to any regular menu item for a mere $10.

C Restaurant continues to set the standards for dining in Vancouver and seafood in Canada. An award winning executive chef, a brigade dedicated to producing the best dining experience in Canada, service that is graceful and elegant, all on a beautiful waterfront setting, makes for an unforgettable event, no matter what the occasion. C is located at 1600 Howe Street, one block south of Beach Avenue on False Creek. For reservations please call (604) 681-1164. -- Alexander Ink
