INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN SUSTENANCE

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE in SUSTENANCE

The Roundhouse, Get Local (a partnered project of FarmFolk/CityFolk and the Vancouver Farmers Market) and the BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition and Coupon Project are proud to present “SUSTENANCE: Feasting on Art & Culture”, a first time, unique celebration that culminates on World Food Day: October 16th. SUSTENANCE endeavors to connect the communities of art, culture, and food security. From global to local, from historic to present day, the art and culture of food will be something everyone can feast on.

This is a chance to bring these three communities together to reach a broader audience to celebrate, communicate and educate around food security issues, art in relation to food, and the very culture of food itself.

We invite you to join us! Along with the main art installation in the Roundhouse Gallery, there will be daily cooking and food preparation demonstrations, children’s activities, interactive displays, music, art, theatre, dance, film, story-telling, community information booths and presentations, and so much more!

Neighbourhood events will also be taking place in various satellite locations throughout Vancouver. If you are interested in participating (and we hope you are!) for a few hours or an entire day, please call me. We have lots of ideas and are eager to hear yours, too.

Thank you! This is going to be a celebration to remember.

October 3 – 16, 2009
Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre
and satellite locations throughout Vancouver!
