Sanafir Welcomes Leopard Frog Wines on March 27

SANAFIR WELCOMES LEOPARD FROG WINES ON MARCH 27
(Directly from the Press Release)

Vancouver, BC: Known for dishing up delicious, unique tapas trios in a sultry setting, Sanafir Restaurant & Lounge is the perfect spot to introduce guests to award-winning Leopard Frog Vineyards. Leopard Frog relies on a select handful of premium varietals grown on family-owned farms in the heart of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The bold wines - limited release couture Cape blends - created by winemaker David John Bate will be poured during a reception on Monday, March 27. The wines will be paired with inventive bites prepared by Sanafir's Chef Mark McEwan for an unforgettable marriage of sophisticated flavours. Wines to be sampled are:

Leopard Frog Vineyards Tribe '05: a blend of Pinotage (50%), Pinot Noir (38%) and Cinsaut (12%) ~ A palate-coating mouth feel. Chiselled tannins and crisp, fresh acidity yield to powerfully succulent flavours of sweet black cherry skins, baked blueberries, Brazilian dark cocoa and Italian espresso. Mid-palate filled with aromatic spices such as cloves, black peppercorns and cinnamon sticks. Lingering, sultry farewell reminiscent of a seared Tuscan steak with dried rosemary and porcini.

Leopard Frog Vineyards Tantra '04: a blend of Cabernet Franc (44%), Cabernet Sauvignon (32%) and Petit Verdot (24%) ~ Rounded tannins and crisp acidity uplift fruit within sensuous and silky mouth filling palate. Initial intensity of flavours include orchard cherries, spiced black currants, Christmas pudding and Dutch black liquorice finessed by mid-palate nuances of pencil shavings and seared meat with trailing notes of cedar smoke, ground black pepper and cloves. Hint of caramel in sultry, lingering farewell.

Leopard Frog Vineyards Kiss & Tell '03: a blend of Shiraz (38%), Merlot (38%), Malbec (12%) and Mourvèdre (12%) ~ Mouth filling with soft, seductive tannins. Well-balanced acidity underpins velvety mouth feel. Initial intensity of flavours include black plums, burnt black cherries and candied black currants finessed by mid-palate nuances of red peppers, rosemary and Burgundy anise with trailing undertones of vanilla and cinnamon. Rounded, lingering farewell with smoky, humidor box finish.

The Leopard Frog Vineyards reception takes place Monday, March 27, from 6 - 8 pm. There are limited tickets available for $40 plus GST. Sanafir is located at 1026 Granville Street. Contact Patrick Austin at patrick@sanafir.ca or 604.678.1049 to reserve your tickets.

"Old World wine is like a smoldering love affair that seduces with the promise of things to come, while New World wine is like a passionate quickie that offers instant gratification with little thought beyond the moment of consummation. Each has appeal, but each fails to provide a wholly satisfying experience."
~ David John Bate, Winemaker.
