GUNG HEI FAT CHOY! CELEBRATE YEAR OF THE BOAR AT GRANVILLE ISLAND (Directly from the Press Release).
Vancouver, BC: What do Steven Spielberg, Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Dalai Lama have in common? They were all born in the Year of the Boar! Chinese New Year begins on Sunday, February 18 and Granville Island has planned a dazzling day of festivities to delight everyone in your family.
Sunday, February 18
Starting at 11am, thrill to the drummer's beat as a traditional lion dance procession - said to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck - winds through the Public Market, Net Loft and Railspur Alley to herald the arrival of the Lunar New Year.
The market will also play host to dynamic Kung Fu, Chinese dancing, music and calligraphy demonstrations from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. For an ultra-exclusive treat, Granville Island will be giving away delicious chocolate coins courtesy of Rogers' Chocolates in lucky red envelopes to everyone that comes out to celebrate!
With the arrival of the New Year, it's time to say goodbye to bad luck from the past and wish peace and happiness to your friends and family for the future. Ring in the New Year in style by joining in the vibrant festivities taking place at Granville Island.
