GOLF FOR THE BC HOSPITALITY FOUNDATION
(Directly from the press release)

The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation has recently formed to offer financial assistance at a critical time of need to people who work in food, beverage and hospitality professions.

The newly formed foundation was inspired by the desire to financially assist long-time wine agent Michael J. Willingham with a costly surgery and then the rehabilitation time following his stroke. The plan to assist Michael brought to the fore a broader need to establish a trust fund that can be used to assist anyone within the foodservice, beverage and hospitality industry who requires support, for example due to illness or accident.

The fund will act as a safety net for the food, beverage and hospitality industry members in British Columbia including brewers, food suppliers, hoteliers (foodservice departments), media (in the related trade), publicists (in the related trade ), retailers, vintners and wine sales representatives. The criterion for exact eligibility is in development. The board of trustees for the foundation will manage the foundation and grants.

The planning committee is confident the trust can be funded via the proceeds of an annual fundraiser. For the foundation’s first initiative, the plan is for a golf tournament on April 30, 2007 at the University Golf Club, followed by a gala dinner with fundraising activities. These activities can be achieved by inviting various groups, including restaurants, licensees, hotels, and other related services in these industries to donate to and support the event.

We invite you to participate and/or be a sponsor, and your participation can be in many ways:
Golf with us at the University Golf Club on Monday, April 30, 2007
Sponsor the tournament or an activity at the tournament
Donate an item to the prize table, to the silent auction, or to the live auction
Donate 132 to 175 items (one for every golfer and every volunteer)
Showcase your business by becoming a tee sponsor or activity sponsor on course
Donate in kind services to support the overall net charitable donation
Volunteer with us, pre tournament, tournament day, or post tournament
Help create the event, organize the auctions, prize tables, or assist the committee
All of the above
