SNAPDRAGONS

This Christmas custom dates back to medieval England and is meant for the intrepid. It is most effective in a darkened room. In antique shops you can sometimes find snapdragon platters made in Victorian times, usually with a holly entwined border.

To play the game, you place clusters of seedless raisins, and almonds on a heavy china platter. Heat brandy, pour over platter and ignite.

Guest must snatch raisins and almonds, one at a time, from between the flames. Dried prunes, apricots, figs or dates can be substituted for the raisins.

We recommend rolling any sleeves, well back.  Don't let anyone play this game who is wearing polyester.
