UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP, BEAN BROTHERS BISTRO CAFÉ WILL OFFER 30 COFFEES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
(Edited from the press release.)

When Arkady Draliuk heard that the 15-year-old Bean Brothers Café Bistro in Kerrisdale was in danger of being swallowed up by a corporate conglomerate, he knew he had to do something. Being passionate about coffee as the owner of the well-known Blue Parrot Café in the heart of Granville Island Public Market, Draliuk stepped in to keep Bean Brothers locally-owned and is expanding the offerings of Bean Brothers Café Bistro to make it a true destination coffee bar.

“We want to offer coffee-lovers the same kind of experience that wine-lovers can get at a great wine bar, says Arkady. “We will be offering over 30 different coffees from around the world and over three quarters of them will be Fair Trade and Certified Organic.

Many exotic coffees will be available “by the cup, in the same way that wines are offered “by the glass. And as new Fair Trade and Organic coffees become available, Draliuk hopes to expand his offering to over 40 coffees with about 90% being Fair Trade.

When asked why so many of the Bean Brothers coffees will be Fair Trade and Organic, Draliuk explains that a childhood spent during a era of impoverishment in Russia has allowed him to experience first hand what hunger and desperation can do to a family, a community and a nation. He feels the same can be said for some coffee growing countries, and purchasing Fair Trade and Certified Organic coffees and other products is something his businesses can do to make a difference. “I am committed to giving back and enhancing the lives of others, it is important to me and I know it’s important to my customers.

Bean Brothers Café Bistro has undergone a significant upgrade and investments have been made in sophisticated equipment. In addition to offering coffee by the cup, Bean Brothers will now be offering monthly coffee and tea tastings and seminars.

The cafe is located at 2179 West 41st Ave., Vancouver. 604-266-2185
