On September 8th and 9th catch the RMFC at Capers Living Naturally Fair (Robson Street location). On September 9th they will also have a booth at Feast of Fields (a fundraiser for FarmFolk/CityFolk) at UBC Farm. On September 30th they will be serving their organic flatbreads at VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Plenty – a Local Harvest Celebration.

CHEFS TO THE FIELD EVENT DEEMED A SUCCESS
(Edited from the press release.)

The fifth annual Chefs to the Field event had an excellent turn-out of about 1,200 people. A total of eight restaurant teams went head to head, creating four dishes with the mystery ingredient – Arctic Muscox and Mipkuzola. Chefs rushed to the field, harvesting fresh vegetables straight from the garden for their creations. In the end it was the team from Terminal City Club lead by Executive Chef Jason Lloyd who came out on top, taking home the coveted “Green Cuisine Award.

Funds of $12,000 raised from this event will help Organic Friends of the Future in their mission to support the rights of organic farmers and to promote local organics. The money will also support the Terranova Schoolyard Project, a non-profit, community based garden project founded in 2006 by Chef Ian Lai which operates on 5,000 square feet of growing space generously provided by the City of Richmond..
