OKANAGAN SUMMER WINE FESTIVAL A SUCCESS
(Edited from the press release.)

The 6th annual Okanagan Summer Wine Festival presented by American Express and hosted by Silver Star Mountain Resort was another strong success for the B.C. wine tourism industry. The three day Festival held August 9-11 attracted wine tourists from BC and Alberta and afforded a chance for those visiting the Okanagan in the summer to participate in one of the four annual Okanagan Wine Festivals.

Over 1,000 visitors experienced wine seminars featuring great Canadian dairy cheeses, chocolate and wine pairings, obscure Okanagan wine varietals and learned what wines go best with a summer barbeque. Four separate winemasters dinners were held and the Summer Wine Festival capped it off with its unique outdoor progressive wine tasting situated in the main street of Silver Star Resort’s village. Along with live music at the "Sip and Savour "event, a special art gallery and the ability to hike, walk and bike on Silver Star Mountain, the Festival continues to be a great way to experience Okanagan wines in a world class resort setting.

Roger Gillespie, Marketing Chair with the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society and Hospitality Manager at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery and See Ya Later Ranch Winery stated “The Okanagan Summer Wine Festival enjoys an enviable position in the wine festivals across North America. It is the only major Canadian wine festival to take place in the summer at one of Canada’s finest all season resorts. The rare combination of unusual seminars, an outdoor progressive tasting, music and the arts offer a great match with Silver Star’s natural beauty and charm.

A free 60 page events guide is available at all wineries or Tourism Information Centres in B.C.; at BC Liquor Stores, VQA wine stores and available online at the www.thewinefestivals.com.

For more information on the four annual Okanagan Wine Festivals, contact Blair Baldwin, Christina Ferreira or Allen Tozer at the Okanagan Wine Festivals - 250-861-6654 or info@thewinefestivals.com.
