METRO RESTAURANT IS NOW OPEN

Metro is located on Vancouver's downtown waterfront in the heart of the hotel and convention district, close to Gastown, the entertainment district and financial centre, and features design by David Nicolay and Rob Edmonds of Evoke International Design. Chef Brian Fowke's menu can be catagorized as casual fine dining and features "metropolitan" Canadian cuisine.

Metro is serving in a limited capacity until its official opening and will remain in soft opening until all small details of the room are finished to their exact specifications. They anticipate 4-10 days for completion. The kitchen and chefs are ready however, to present the full range of their dishes. For the complete menu go to www.metrodining.ca.

Metro will be discounting the menu 10% until they are officially open and serving to full capacity.

CELEBRATE FROM MORNING `TIL NIGHT AT GRANVILLE ISLAND ON CANADA DAY

Vancouver, BC: Granville Island shouts "Happy Birthday, Canada" with a day of fun that is bursting at the seams with live music performances, kid-friendly activities and a colourful parade. Granville Island will be transformed into an island-wide celebration for Canada Day. Events take place from 7:30am to midnight on Sunday, July 1, starting with a pancake breakfast kick-off at the Granville Island Hotel with partial proceeds going to Canuck Place Children's Charity.

Special activities include fun for children at the Kids Market, global cuisine, unique Canadian arts and crafts, and over a dozen free live performances courtesy of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival all over the island. Wearing red and white is your ticket to ride the ferries to Granville Island for a two-for-one price fare.

The Granville Island buskers will be raising the bar to entertain the crowds, led by Rick Lewis and his 12-foot unicycle. Enjoy entertainment from the buskers all day long at various locations around the Island. Highlights include musicians from around the world, escape artists, jugglers and balloon artists.

Free family fun festivities will be on offer including a False Creek Ferries Ballet, glass blowing demonstrations, disco dancing, carnival games, children's entertainers, face painting, patriotic pooches, craft demonstrations and prize draws.

In addition to market sales, and all the usual delicious Public Market treats, Bridges will be having a lobster barbeque. Or, if you prefer, pick out your own to take home from the Lobsterman.
