CELEBRITY FIREFIGHTER CHEFS HEAT THINGS UP AT POTLUCK CAFE DINNER

The Vancouver firefighters who compiled the popular Pot on the Stove Celebrity Cookbook will doff their firefighting gear and don aprons to serve a gourmet meal at the Potluck Café on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside on March 30, 2007. The event will raise funds to nourish some of Vancouver’s neediest residents.

“We’re extremely excited to have Vancouver’s firefighters donate their time and culinary skills to such a great cause, said Potluck’s acting executive director Heather O’Hara. “This kind of support helps Potluck attain its goal of improving the lives of this community’s residents through meal programs and employment training.

Each guest will receive a copy of the firefighters’ cookbook, Pot on the Stove, conceived as a fundraiser for BC Children’s Hospital. It is a compilation of favourite recipes from celebrities such as Sarah McLachlan, Michael Buble, Jamie Oliver, Trevor Linden, Richard Dean Anderson, Steve Nash, Rob Feenie, Tojo and many others who share a Vancouver connection and a passion for food.

The menu features Fresh Pacific Salmon with an Orange Basil Sauce. Plenty of other treats will be on offer during the evening, along with wine pairings from the Wild Horse Canyon wines.
