GARLIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MASTER GARLIC CHEF COMPETITION
(Edited from the Press Release)

100 Mile House, BC Canada ....The South Cariboo Garlic Festival is pleased to introduce a new headline event called "The Master Garlic Chef Recipe & Cook-Off Competition" for this year's 8th annual Garlic Festival in 100 Mile House, BC.

Festival Director Gail Szolosi said, "The Master Garlic Chef competition now adds a new reason for people to put the Garlic Festival on their 'don't miss' list of exciting things to see and do in our area this summer. It goes right to the heart of this fast-growing annual Celebration of Garlic.

The Master Garlic Chef Competition encourages garlic enthusiasts from Canada and the U.S. to submit their original recipes to the Festival Committee by April 15, 2007. A panel of chefs and food professionals will pick the top 3 entries, based on originality and use of garlic. The top 3 contestants will be notified by May 15, 2007 and invited to 100 Mile House to participate in a cook-off final. Cook-off date will be August 12, 2007, the second and final day of the Festival. The cook-off will be judged by a panel selected by the Committee. The winner will become the first MASTER GARLIC CHEF. First prize for this event is $500, second prize is $250, and third prize is $100. Hotel accommodations for the contestants will be provided by the Festival.

The Festival's mission is to strengthen the community's position as a desirable holiday destination by providing visitors with a World Class Celebration of the Stinking Rose. All Festival net proceeds are distributed to non-profit organizations in the South Cariboo area.
