C Restaurant looks back on ten years in the biz with an anniversary party

Party Photos here

--------------

Well, time to take poor Chef Rob Clark off the hook and thank him for being a good sport.

Unfortunately, there was no entertainment by “Clark and the Fish Sticks. No, he wasn’t crooning. Although the circumstantial evidence of the photo, complete with the Pavarotti-like hankie, made it hard for us to resist pretending that had been the case.

Clark was actually giving a little welcome speech to the supporters and media in attendance at the ultra-pleasant and somewhat low-key soiree that C Restaurant had thrown on Saturday to celebrate their 10th Annniversary.

Despite the balloons, string instrumental trio, clowns, flowing saki-tinis and schools of giant fish bobbing through the patio crowd, we say “low-key because C’s owner Harry Kambolis, Executive Chef Rob Clark, and C Chef Quang Dang and their crew could have banged on bigger drums for themselves than they did.

Now that nearly everyone has got with the marine sustainability picture in this town, it’s significant to remember that for most of their first ten years, Kambolis’ team at C (and its sister restaurants) were the lone lighthouse on the beach in that regards.

However, it’s a monopoly that Kambolis is happy and proud to relinquish. We asked if it ever seemed to him like things were changing almost a little too fast in the restaurant biz these days.

“Well, come to think of it", he replied. “I recently saw a reference to myself and (Chef) Rob Feenie as being members of the industry ‘OLD GUARD’. Like … when did THAT happen?
