Araxi Restaurant has announced a partnership between an award-winning, wine educator and one of Whistler’s top rated restaurants.

Mark Davidson is a 25-year veteran in the hospitality industry having shaped and standardized wine studies in British Columbia over the past 15 years. His impressive resume is studded with a list of major certifications and accolades including instructor for the International Sommelier Guild and Dubrulle Culinary Institute, long time judge at the Vancouver Playhouse International Festival, the Canadian Wine Awards and Australian Wine Bureau Consultant, and a popular panelist, speaker and regular face at countless local and international culinary and media events.

“Restaurant guests are more sophisticated and interested in the relationship between food and wine than ever before, says Davidson. “I couldn’t be more pleased to see a restaurant of Araxi’s caliber making such a strong commitment to staff wine knowledge and I look forward to working with the group.

Araxi’s established wine library, widely regarded as one of the best in the province, with over twelve hundred labels in residence, was recently awarded the ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ from Wine Spectator for the sixth consecutive year.

Courses with Araxi’s service staff begin in early December and upon completion in March, participants will have an enhanced knowledge of the top grape varieties and wine styles from around the world in addition to having honed their food and wine pairing, service and cellar management skills. -- Kate Colley Lo
