MEDIA HOUND - THE LOCAL INK

The local links have been updated at the newsstand.

And in the meantime here's a bit of fun. "Locavore" may have been designated as the "Word of the Year" for 2007, but even CityFood Online appears to be adding to the public lexicon. Apparently we are the first accredited source in the Google universe to have used the word "blockavore". Now this gets us thinking of all kinds of mischief.

Here's a little more on the debate of "locavore" vs. "localvore", which spelling takes precedence?", that Kevin Freeman of www.foodvancouver.com found for us, on Google, of course.

THE OUTSIDE WORLD - Funny Commercials

Check out this commercial for Bacardi. It's in Spanish so here's the set-up.

A young woman on the war path is surprised to discover her boyfriend secretly moonlighting as a waiter. He explains that he's only been doing it so he can afford to buy her the nice things that she deserves. The rest needs no translation.

ATTENTION SHOPPERS
ROLL IT UP AND SMOKE IT!

Now here's a thought. Why bother going to all the trouble of roasting, brining or even deep-frying that holiday turkey if you can smoke it instead. Especially if someone is willing to do it for you.

Call up the boys at Memphis Blues Barbecue House and they will smoke you a 16 pound, free range, med-free turkey for $65.00. Better book ahead though, as space is limited and they go fast.

Contact information for the Memphis Blues Barbeque House locations are 1465 West Broadway (604-738-6806), 1342 Commercial Drive (604-215-2599), 1629 Lonsdale in North Vancouver (604-929-3699), and 289 Bernard Avenue in Kelowna (250-868-3699).
