MEDIA HOUND - THE LOCAL INK

Nancy Lanthier has once again kindly updated the links to this week's food columns in the local Vancouver press, so there's lots of good reading to enjoy after the Thanksgiving turkey dinner renders you immobile.

It's too bad though that the North Shore News didn't make Deana Lancaster's article available on their website. It sounds like her encounter with a restaurateur who commented on her paper's reviewing style (without realizing who she was, of course), must have been amusing. Anyone know where one can get a copy of the NSN on the other side of the bridge?

Update: North Shore News has now uploaded Deana's story. Thanks to Andrew Morrison for finding the new post."
Here it is. - All India Brings More Flavour to West Van.

For a dose of hilarious, be sure to check out Mark Laba's review of Italian Kitchen in this week's Province. He loved the food, but it's Laba's unique (called it humble meatball) perspective on our city's style-conscious restaurant scene that really puts the kick in the tomato sauce.

To quote: The furnishings have that '70s rec-room styling, spiffed up as if Hugh Hefner were dropping over for a visit. It makes sense, considering the bold and beautiful hormonal pool present, complete with breast implants and six-packs you could hammer nails with. ...
A second floor houses a second bar with swanky white furnishings and glimmers like a night in Rome with Gina Lollobrigida... Peaches and I took seats at the 18-metre-long white marble bar and watched the two women beside us take cellphone photos of each other posing with their heirloom tomato salads..."

It's all filed here in the Media Section.
