Taste of Yaletown |
The Height of L'eau

So how long has it been since you had an elite hydration experience?
This is what Evian is promising you with the release of their new luxury Palace Bottle this summer.
Well, we’re sure if we have experienced an elite hydration, it didn’t involve plain old water, and we are doubtful that changing the shape of the container really makes fancy-ass bottled water more fashionable than it already is … however, considering that the Evian variety allegedly took 15 years to work its way down from the top of the Alps to the spigot at the bottom, we suppose it does qualify as a slow food item, and that’s trendy in itself these days.
Evian says that it has designed the Palace Bottle specifically for use in restaurants and hotels, but how timely is this marketing decision when there is an eco-movement afloat to ban bottled water from restaurants entirely? TODAY'S PRESS RELEASESFor Portugal Day, Senova will picnic in honour of the country's most famous one-eyed, street brawling poet. Paul Smolen of Hart House earns recognition from Special Olympics while the Governator watches on. What $10 will get you in Yaletown (besides a valet parking job.) Does all Dad need is a new grill friend? Here's one mom will approve of. What made-in-Quebec product does everyone love much more than Celine Dion? Capone's has a thing going on with it. Hooray! the patio at Hammy's is now open and the construction trucks can't run over you. ____________________________________________________________ FETCHED BY THE MEDIA DOG The Outside World
Here's an idea for the Chefs Table Group that could be worth stealing - Bid on a hot date with a chef. The New York Times finally answers that gem of a question: Can you really eat breakfast at Tiffany's? Is the popular Mojito responsible for the upsurge in sales of White Rum? Now that the warm weather is here do you get the yen to drink one? Flighty mixologist, Alberta Straube, shows you how in her Cocktails on the Fly video. We like her use of the stick of cane sugar as a natural swizzle stick? Anyone know if someone sells that here? Please share if you do. Alberta also provides a useful primer for making simple syrup, a staple ingredient in many cocktails. Click here for more on Alberta. _______________________________________________________________

So far no luck on finding the Mexican coke in Vancouver. Que Pasa doesn't carry it and Dona Cata doesn't answer their phone messages. (Perhaps the stuff is illegal or they thought we were inquiring about the other stuff.) We'll keep looking.
