Update for April 27, 2007

In the photo: Are these wines due to become the hottest new labels in the Okanagan? Le Vieux Pin is a new, idealistic, and extremely well-funded winery in Osoyoos with a goal nothing short of perfection. The total bottling of their first vintage might barely fill a child's wheelbarrow, but while you and I can expect to have a difficult time getting any of it, Rob Feenie, Vikram Vij and Pino Posterero already do. This story coming up next.
Please Note: Due to our current priority focus on the next print edition of CityFood Magazine, new features and update notifications for this website may be less frequent than usual this week, or daily postings may have to be added a piece at a time throughout the day. New material will be continuously added to the Calendar of Events and Press Release sections as we receive them. We thank you for your patience.

They Played a Good Game, eh?
Another restaurant award season in British Columbia has come and gone, and for those “who like to watch it can be a most amusing time of year – when the carefully PR-polished veneer of the food services industry cracks under the pressure of its collective subliminal ego and any variety of bad gases can escape into the atmosphere: fatal slips of the tongue, transparent agendas, raw emotion, jealousy, thwarted ambitions, pride, justification and the self-inflicted mortifications of the acceptance speech.

Jack Evrensel of Top Table Group even came right out and said so, in the opening line of his speech while accepting his recognition as “an exceptional restaurateur who is currently active in the BC Restaurant industry. As Evrensel is respected as man never known to waste words on self-serving rhetoric, he made the point more significant for everyone else as well.
