The Irish are Parading This Way

A One Minute Interview
A BIT OF THE BLARNEY WITH ...
BRIAN MacISAAC BREWMASTER OF CRANNOG ALES
Brian MacIsaac and his wife Rebecca Kneen own a farm in Sorrento BC where they raise crops and animals according to organic methods. They also produce Canada's only certified organic farmhouse microbrews, Crannog Ales, which they make in the manner of the best Irish tradition. That's the couple in the photo above, pouring some of their ales at a local brewfest.
Born in Canada and yet more Irish than the Irish, MacIsaac displays his artistic side in his hand-crafted beer, on his bar door, and openly on his sleeves. In honour of St. Patrick's day we talk to him about beer, Irish icons, heritage pigs and everything else that goes into the Celtic soul food mix. ... CONTINUE READING ... Filed in PEOPLE/suppliers

St PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION - ELSEWHERE
The British are putting Guinness in their Marmite
Other people are putting Guinness in their chocolate brownies.
While the latest stats say that the Irish themselves are knocking back less Guinness and quaffing more wine.
In San Francisco they are celebrating with authentic inauthentic Irish Coffees from the Buena Vista Cafe.
In the former Irish immigrant neighbourhoods of Brooklyn (did you ever read A Tree Grows in ...) they are just plain going over the top. (We hear one street will be closed to the traffic and carpeted with sod because contrary to popular opinion, St Patrick is not the patron saint of concussions.)
Someone is telling the truth about corned beef. (If you want to believe it.)
And everyone else is on the hunt across America for the elusive McDonald's Shamrock shake.
