Glowbal Goes Italian

FEATURES

SOMEONE'S IN THE KITCHEN WITH GLOWBAL AND IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S ITALIAN

“Giving birth to a restaurant is of course, just a figure of speech. Except that when it comes to the Glowbal Group, the association is a little more apt. The Vancouver-based restaurant company has been churning out new restaurants at an average rate of one every nine to 10 months, about the same time it takes to conceive and gestate the average human baby.

On March 14, Emad Yacoub, Jack Lamont and the rest of the Glowbal family will be celebrating their fifth anniversary, and in that time they have produced five fine food establishments with another on the way and due to arrive this summer

BEST CHOICES FROM THE WINE FESTIVAL

We are jumping the gun here a little but we figure today will be our best opportunity to announce a new wine series we will be offering as a co-feature with www.winediva.ca.

The Wine Diva is, of course, Daenna van Mulligen, whose fun, fantastic, and very pink website celebrates her ongoing enthusiasm for the grape.

Every day throughout the month of March and leading up to the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, Daenna will be chosing a favourite wine that viewers will be able to taste and experience at the wine festival. Benefit from Daenna's excellent palate and experience as a sommelier by reading her evaluation and then go check out the wines yourself to see if you agree with her.

Today we start our Festival tasting with a handsome Pinot Noir from Rodney Strong Estate Vineyards of California's Sonoma County. On Friday, March 2nd we will be back with our wine pick number 2.

SHROOMING FOR PUNISHMENT

For those of you who want more Shonen Knife, or for those who hate us now because they can't get that silly Banana Chips song out of their heads, here's more of the same.

Basically, its a video of three Japanese chicks dressed like leprechauns and singing in English about finding the tasty brown mushrooms you find in Italian restaurants.

They can't sing, can't play and their lyrics sound like they were taken directly off a fast food delivery flyer ... but hey, somehow it all works in a wonderfully nerdy sort of way.
